IWQOL is a copyrighted, validated self-report measure of obesity-specific quality of life.

IWQOL-Lite and IWQOL-Lite-Clinical Trials (IWQOL-Lite-CT) were developed by Ronette “Ronnie” L. Kolotkin, Ph.D., obesity consultant, owner of Quality of Life Consulting, PLLC, and a consulting professor at Duke University.

The IWQOL-Lite, developed using rigorous methods, demonstrates strong psychometric properties and is linguistically validated for ≥80 languages. Numerous research studies on persons with obesity, as well as clinical practices, use the IWQOL-Lite to assess patient-reported quality of life. The breadth of knowledge gained since its development in 2001 continues to be of value in clinical research and clinical practice.

An alternative version of the IWQOL-Lite (IWQOL-Lite-Clinical Trials, or IWQOL-Lite-CT) was developed to meet the developmental rigor required by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to support product labeling. The IWQOL-Lite-CT consists of 20 items optimized for use in the adult patient population typically targeted for obesity clinical trials, both with and without type 2 diabetes. It is anticipated that the final measure will be qualified by the FDA for use in clinical trials of new weight-loss medications to support product labeling claims.

Symptom Management for YA Cancer Survivors

SWET

SWET is a small exploratory, randomized, controlled trial. Twenty-six older (ages 60-80 yr.), obese (BMI 28-40 kg/m2) persons with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) (seropositive or erosive) will be randomized to 16 weeks of a counseling health as treatment (CHAT) program or a supervised weight loss and exercise training (SWET) program.

Step Up

This research study included the development and pilot testing of a hybrid in-person and mHealth coping skills training intervention for symptom management and daily steps in stem cell transplant patients.

Dyad Linked Incentives

This fully virtual study to investigate how a dyad linked incentive strategy compares to individual incentives for patients taking a single medication. Dyad-linked incentives work by jointly rewarding two linked individuals for both adhering to their medication regimen, adding both social support and peer accountability to traditional incentive structures.

BEACTIVE

This 3-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial assesses the effects of combining daily blueberry intake with weekly exercise (BB-EX) on cardiovascular function, as well as physical activity and cognitive function, in sedentary older adults (>60 years).

CONNECT-HF

CONNECT-HF is a large, multi-site research study that includes an ancillary study/app designed to support guideline-based activities to help patients manage heart failure. The Pattern-powered app tracked key biometrics and delivered personalized educational content about heart failure and help patients manage taking their medication.

Awareness of Rare Cancers (ARC) PCP Survey

The ARC measure captures primary care providers' (PCP) ability to appropriately diagnose rare cancers as well as barriers to the appropriate referral of rare cancer patients from primary to specialty care. The results enable practices to better educate providers and ensure patients receive timely care.

Blueprint

Blueprint is a month-long mobile app-based adaptive coping skills training intervention delivered through the Pattern Health app designed to help patients cope with psychological distress symptoms after hospitalization.
