LIFT is a remote care program and research study powered by

LIFT is a self-guided treatment program that aims to improve quality of life, reduce symptoms, help gain independence quicker, and build stronger relationships. LIFT uses a mobile app to deliver automated yet personalized support and minfulness training.
Principle Investigators: Christopher Cox, MD
Institution: Duke Health
Clinicaltrials.gov Identifiers: NCT04581200NCT04038567NCT04816708
Trial Design: Multi-Site, Hybrid

Multiple versions of LIFT are currently being researched:

A Self-directed Mobile Mindfulness Intervention to Address Distress and Burnout in Frontline Healthcare Workers (LIFT-HCW)

“This is a pilot randomized waitlist control trial assessing if the feasibility of using a mobile mindfulness app to treat emotional distress and burnout amongst nurses taking care of COVID-19 patients. This trial will help inform the study team if dissemination the intervention to a large number of nurses in a short time period is feasible, and if the intervention has evidence of a clinical impact.” (Source: NCT04816708)

Optimizing a Mobile Mindfulness Intervention for ICU Survivors (LIFT2)

“This is a factorial experimental trial involving adult survivors of cardiorespiratory failure treated in intensive care units (ICUs) that is conceptualized as the Optimization Phase of a multiphase optimization strategy (MOST) framework. This will allow optimization of a mobile mindfulness intervention by comparing eight different iterations across domains including impact on symptoms, feasibility, acceptability, usability, scalability, and cost.” (Source: NCT04038567)

Lift Mobile Mindfulness for COVID-19 Distress Symptoms (LIFTCOVID)

“This is a randomized clinical trial (RCT) nested within the NIH PETAL Network’s COVID cohort study (BLUE CORAL [Biology and Longitudinal Epidemiology: COVID Observational Study]) of patients hospitalized for COVID-19-related illness. COVID-19 patients enrolled in BLUE CORAL with elevated distress symptoms 1 month post-discharge will be randomized to either the Lift mobile app intervention or a usual care control.” (Source: NCT04581200)
